Practise Monologues

Me in rehearsals for Midsummer Madness

This is a monthly event where you can practise those pesky monologues in a friendly, supportive and fun environment. Just bring along a monologue.

This is set up so you try to do it monthly or whenever you can.

It’s run like a mock audition, so this isn’t a feedback or class situation. Just an opportunity to get up and practise with others.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time to sort out order of participants.

Dates: 2nd Monday of the month in Brighton

‘A Threesome’ is a comedy review where you’ll get a bit of stand up, spoken word, opera and vaudeville all rolled up in a ball of fun which pokes fun at the different generations involved in the show. So if you are looking for something that little bit different, but good fun, then join us!

This one day workshop is for beginners to advanced performers who wish to try a new approach to acting. The day will introduce you to the Meisner Acting Technique and a series of exercises which can help to learn more about yourself and build your confidence in everyday life situations and acting in a fun, friendly and supportive environment.

This is a workshop which will help build your confidence as an actor in the Meisner technique, face your fears and help you do it anyway!  It is a very friendly and supportive class – we work from a very positive and supportive approach. Debbie heads the classes and all are welcome!

Anita Boult is a musical superstar wannabe, but her problems with love, life, her Jewish family and, now, having to ‘move out of New York. Back home, but not AT home’ have led her back to her home town of Peekskill – just outside of New York. This is a one-woman play with music which features songs by composers Samuel Barber, Amy Beach, Gershwin, Bernstein and Aaron Copland.

There will be a chance to meet and talk with the cast/director after the show.

When the village girls of Salem are discovered dancing in the woods, they turn the accusation of witchcraft back on their accusers. Politically motivated hysteria grips the town; no one is safe from imprisonment or hanging. One couple struggles to stand above the madness and hold on to the truth. With a growing reputation for its original approach to the production of quality theatre, Pretty Villain bring a promenade approach to Miller’s text that places the audience at the heart of the action.

Debbie will be playing Judge Hathorne in The Crucible with ‘Pretty Villian Productions’, as part of the Brighton Festival.

The Boarding House (Play Reading)

Play Reading of the Boarding House

The Boarding House; or, Five Hours at Brighton, a musical farce in two acts by Samuel Beazley. Debbie is reading the role of Caroline Wheatley who is in love with Young Contract. This is a play-reading of a re-discovered literary gem which inspired Dickens presented by Treasure Theatre with members of the Brighton and East Sussex Branch of Equity.
